Turning The Tide

Turning The Tide is an animated tableau vivant about a woma:n alone in the woods. It is a poietic intervention that touches on violence against wom:en and the strenous struggle against it. In its ritualistic form, the performance seeks to open a gateway into a world where the idea of a creature — in high heels, scantily dressed — alone in the woods or on a dark street, no longer evokes fear for her.

The audience experiences a creature working another creatures flesh with a big knive in repetitious movements – standing tall in high-heeled, deer-brown suede boots found on the streets of Vienna, louboutin_ised with red nail polish by their previous owner and then never worn. The action towards the flesh that is a cow’s spleen is also crucial in creating a traditional Austrian dish my mother made: Milzschnittensuppe.
