VN Jaeger & Schwarzwald (2016)

Wildes Fleisch is artistic research, performance, film, exhibition and celebration.

With reference to Roland Barthes, “how to live together?” is the central question that VN Jaeger & Schwarzwald use as a starting point for their artistic investigation. They delve into human idiosyncrasies with the premise that each one has its own validity. Different ways of life are placed in relation to one another, revealing both their allure and their challenges. VN Jaeger & Schwarzwald pose the question: Is it necessary to create distance if we want to make it together until the end? Coexistence is not explored through the lens of a couple or a larger collective. Instead, the focus is on one’s own rhythm within a small group—on the desire to be oneself with others. This is a study of relationships outside the societal center, where those involved move between a sense of belonging and the pull of freedom.

Wildes Fleisch – the (silent) film is a work in its own right, yet it was created from the outset as an essential part of the performance Wildes Fleisch. Four people are together in a very special setting – together with various animals. They live together and give us a glimpses into this coexistence. The film creates a kind of extended space in Wildes Fleisch: in a different place, at a different time, in a different constellation—and yet connected.
